Go, Einsteins! Go!
Quick! I need your help! Someone has graciously extended an invite for me to have my own weekly food column. Here's the catch - they don't pay. Which means that I need to come up with ideas that won't cost me anything. But they have to be about food. And with enough potential topics for me to write weekly.
And yes, I'm back. Glad to be home. A week without cell phone and internet makes one a bit twitchy - with 285 email to answer when one gets home. (True story, folks.) I have more going on in the next two days than in the last two months, but more on that once the shot-like-a-pinball feeling lessens a bit.
So, ideas please.

"Food Column" as in "Good Places to Eat" or as in "How to Make a Meal for Less than $.43?"
Whatever I want. It can be restaurant reviews, interesting food things, whatev - just something I want to write about, having to do with food.
How about the following ideas -
1. 'Best Low-Cost Eats', or 'Where to Eat Out When Your Cheapskate Boss Won't Pay You'.
2. 'The Cupcake Wars', or 'I Have to Stand in Line How Long for a Sugar Fix?'
3. 'How to Piss off Your Waiter', or 'Why I Was Served a Spit-Burger'.
First of all, welcome back! We missed you! (And we need to arrange that get together!).
For your food column, can it be a little bit of everything? Everyone's ideas are good, but if you don't have any sort of budget, why not let THAT be the deciding factor, and write a No-budget food column - the cheapest places to get the best eats, cooking in when all your cabinets hold is ramen and salt, canned foods and why I love 'em, etc. etc.
"How to live on worms in the big apple."
Which would tie in to my suggestion; the recipe for ramen oriental salad.
How about how you mix brownies by hand?
I can't believe you remember that...
I have a fair capacity for remembering weird stuff. I also am able to remember people's birthdays, for example I still remember my best friend from first grade birthday.
Hey, Alisha, long time reader, first time responder.
The first thought that I had for your food column was the brownie story. I think it would make a great lead and even be a cool title for your column: "Mix by Hand." Unfortunately the title dos not lend itself to story ideas.
"Yellow Dye #5" on the other hand fits with kpolly's bad food idea. Yellow dye #5 is a once popular food coloring (added to such items as Twinkies) that can cause allergic reactions. The suggestion being that your column appears innocuous but contains an element of risk and danger.
As for other stories, may I suggest "If Celebrities Were Food..." (e.g. If Tom Cruise were food, he'd be turkey the Sunday after Thanksgiving.)
Some people are not always truthful.
